After two years on the air at WPPM 106.5 FM, Badd Kitti, aka Brieze Thompson, now plans to launch her radio show, “The Funk Excursion with Badd Kitti” as a podcast.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Philly’s Funk Queen wanted to bring the Funk to quarantined Philadelphians. The initial result was the “Funk Excursion” radio show, which in addition to Philadelphia, was aired in Dayton, Ohio and Houston, Texas.  As time went on, and because of the positive reaction to the program, “It just made sense to offer it in a more accessible format”, says Thompson, the show’s host and producer.

Each week, “The Funk Excursion” takes listeners on a musical journey through the history and culture of Funk, with thoughtfully curated topics, designed to be educational as well as entertaining. Thompson’s lifelong love of Funk and her experience as a professional musician combine to offer a unique and insightful perspective on the topic. “People kept telling me that they learn something every time they listen to the show”, says Thompson, “and that was really my goal, because in spite of its 60 year history, so little is known about Funk and its importance in popular music.”

Season 1 of “The Funk Excursion w/ Badd Kitti” will be available starting February 3, 2023.
